“…Similar work has been reported by Jung et al 22 where the major focus was on controlling the crystalline quality of CNTs during FC−CVD process. Lee et al 23 reported synthesis of macrostructure of CNT, that is, fibers using various carbon precursors such as methane, ethylene, and acetylene. They found that the type of carbon precursor had profound effect on the defect density present in the final product i.e.…”

“…The number of walls, and length and diameter of the CNTs are affected by the type of carbon source, the concentration of the catalyst and promotor, the hydrogen gas flow rate, and the pyrolysis temperature. Carbon sources such as aromatics (e.g., benzene), alkanes (e.g., methane and hexane), alkenes, alcohols (e.g., methanol, ethanol, and butanol), acetone, and their mixtures have all been used to assemble CNT fibers. ,,, It was found that O-containing species in the carbon sources reduce the formation of nonfibrous carbon and are crucial for the continuous spinning of CNT fibers, and promoters such as thiophene increase the yield of SWCNTs . Collapsed flat CNTs provide a higher contact area between each other and therefore produce a higher mechanical strength of the fiber. , The flow of the carrier gas or the generated/applied plasma can favor the alignment of CNTs into nanobundles before their assembly into a fiber.…”
