Synthesis of BN/g‐C3N4 as Visible‐light‐driven Photocatalysts for Degradation of Different Organic Pollutants

Abstract: In this work, BN/g‐C3N4 composites were prepared by hydrothermal reaction. The BN/g‐C3N4 composites were successfully characterized by FTIR spectra, XRD, SEM, HRTEM, UV/Vis DRS, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms and BET. The photocatalytic activities of the as‐prepared catalysts were evaluated by the degradation of different organic pollutants, such as Acid Red (AR), Rhodamine B (RhB), Congo Red (CR), Methyl Orange (MO), Methyl Red (MR), and Phenol. The best result showed that the 40 wt% BN was added to g‐C3N… Show more

“…Nitrogen sorption measurements and pore size distribution curves recorded at 77 K were used to estimate the surface area and porosity of the synthesized catalysts. The absorbance plot as a function of the wavelength for g-C 3 N 4 , which is known to be an indirect band gap material, 46 and Cu 2 O, a direct band gap material, 47 shows an absorption edge at around 430 and 630 nm corresponding to the band gap values of about 2.88 and 1.96 eV, respectively, as shown in Figure 4c. This was followed by the UV-DRS studies on the various composites.…”

“…Other BN/g‐C 3 N 4 composites were also prepared by the hydrothermal reaction by Tu et al [ 63 ] Several organic pollutants, including acid red (AR), RhB, Congo red (CR), MO, methyl red, and phenol, were utilized to evaluate the photocatalytic activities of the as‐prepared catalysts. As shown in Figure 5d,e, BN/g‐C 3 N 4 ‐4 exhibited the highest degradation ability of AR, which achieved a degradation percentage rate of up to 99%.…”
