“…As shown in Figure , when excited at 290 nm wavelength, with the addition of increasing Hg 2+ concentrations, fluorescence intensity decreased at 360 nm and increased at 500 nm. Fluorescence emission at 360 nm is a characteristic of Trp residues, whereas fluorescence emission at 500 nm is attributed to dansyl chromophores . When Hg 2+ was added to the D‐P5 solution, amino acid residues in D‐P5 (including imidazole group of histidine and indole group of tryptophan) can interact with Hg 2+ , therefore the peptide may fold and the distance between the dansyl fluorophore (acceptor) and Trp residue (donor) would be shortened, resulting in a decrease in emission intensity for Trp (360 nm) and an increase in emission intensity for the dansyl group (500 nm) due to the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect .…”

“…Fluorescent chemical probes are a useful tool for detecting low concentrations of HTM ions, which are significant in living organisms and the environment . Fluorescent chemosensors can be used as portable and less costly alternatives to traditional atomic spectrometric techniques .…”

“…Dans-CPGCW-NH 2 . 40 A szerzõk különbözõ fémionok hatására jelentõs fluoreszcencia intenzitás-növekedést mutattak ki a danzilcsoportra jellemzõ hullámhossz-tartományban (=500-550 nm között) függetlenül attól, hogy a danzilcsoport vagy a triptofán abszorpciós sávján gerjesztették a rendszereket. Utóbbi esetben az intenzitás növekedését a szerzõk a fémionok által indukált FRET jelenségként azonosították.…”

“…The developed fluorescent probes were mainly based on crown ether- 24,25 and anthracene-based 26,27 structures, but proprietary aromatic structures, including dipyridyl-phenantroline, 28 as well as naphthyridine-based 29 and tricarbocyanine-based molecules 30 were also described. There are only a very few examples for fluorescent Cd(II)-sensing synthetic peptides 18,31,32 but none of these probes were immobilized on a solid support. Limit of detection (LOD) values are scarcely reported in the literature for the Cd(II) fluorescent probes, most probably due to the fact that LODs would be not only influenced by the probe but also largely by the sensor construction itself.…”

The published values range from nM to M 18,23,32 (for two reported peptidyl probes: 41 nM 18 and 294 nM 32 ).…”
