Synthesis, Crystal Structures, and Cytotoxicity of Thiophene-2-carbaldehyde N(4)-Cyclohexylthiosemicarbazone and Its Diorganotin(IV) Complex

Abstract: Thiophene-2-carbaldehyde N(4)-cyclohexylthiosemicarbazone C 12 H 17 N 3 S 2 (HL) and diorganotin(IV) complex [Ph 2 Sn(L)Cl] (1) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 contains mononuclear neutral molecule composed of one five-coordinated diorganotin(IV) ion, one NS bidentate anionic thiosemicarbazone ligand, one chloridion, and two phenyl group, respectively. In vitro biological studies have indicated that coupling of HL with Ph 2 Sn (… Show more

“…As one of the earliest drugs to be used in the treatment of tumors, cisplatin is one of the most commonly used in combination chemotherapy, while its high toxicity and side effects also brought a lot of pain to patients . Inspired by this, many chemists have paid attention to the development of new metal‐based drugs in order to overcome the drawbacks of cisplatin . Until now, metal compounds have been widely used as chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of several types of malignancies, such as nasopharyngeal, lung and ovarian cancers…”
