Synthesis, characterization, and morphological control of ZnTiO3 nanoparticles through sol-gel processes and its photocatalyst application

Abstract: In this work, ZnTiO3 ceramics have been synthesized from the reaction of zinc acetate (Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O), tetrabutyl titanate (Ti(OC4H9)4) as precursors and ethanol as the solvent, in the presence benzene-1, 3, 5-tricarboxylic acid as a novel chelating agent by sol-gel method. The effect of various parameters such as reaction temperature, pH effect, effect of molar ratio of benzene -1, 3, 5tricarboxylic acid to tetrabutyl titanate on morphology, size and purity of products was investigated. The asprepared prod… Show more

“…Recently, the photocatalyst process of environmental contaminates has attracted growing attention . Among different approaches, materials based on TiO 2 are the most suitable suppliants for photocatalytic degradation . The high specific surface area is one useful characteristic of the TiO 2 mesoporous photocatalyst supplying more active sites at the surface for photocatalytic reaction.…”

“…[9][10][11][12] Among different approaches, materials based on TiO 2 are the most suitable suppliants for photocatalytic degradation. [13][14][15][16][17][18][19] The high specific surface area is one useful characteristic of the TiO 2 mesoporous photocatalyst supplying more active sites at the surface for photocatalytic reaction. On the other hand, the nanoscale pores of mesoporous photocatalyst help the faster arrival of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs to the surface, and prevent their recombination in bulk.…”

“…Ataee‐Esfahani et al have used gold–platinum nanoparticles as an electrocatalyst for methanol oxidation . Masoud Salavati‐Niasari and his coworkers used neodymium vanadate, silver/titania, praseodymium oxide, copper indium sulfide, zirconia, and zinc titania nanoparticles and cupper iron oxide/carbon nanotube/graphene, dysprosium tin oxide/tin oxide, cadmium sulfide/carbon, and palladium/titania/ graphene nanocomposites as photocatalysts for the degradation of various water pollutants. They have proved, through band gap calculations, that bimetallic nanoparticles are good photocatalysts .…”

[6][7][8][9][10] To address the urgent need for clean water and sustainable energy, alternative eco-friendly and economical energy technology should be high on the agenda. Among the available candidates, semiconductor-based photocatalysis is an facile and efficient technology, which utilizes the renewable solar energy without any secondary pollution to remove the organic contaminants.…”
