Synthesis, characterization and gas sensing performance of SnO2 thin films prepared by spray pyrolysis

Abstract: Nanocrystalline SnO 2 thin films were successfully prepared using sol-gel dip coating technique. The starting precursor was used as tin chloride dihydrate (SnCl 2 .2H 2 O), ethanol and glycerin. As the prepared films were fired at 500 o C. These films were characterized using XRD, FE-SEM and TEM to known crystal structure, surface morphology and microstructure property. Elemental composition was studied using energy dispersive spectrophotometer (EDAX). The H 2 gas sensing performance of nanocrystalline SnO 2 t… Show more

“…SnO 2 thin films can be deposited by a variety of techniques such as spray pyrolysis, [12] sol-gel method, [11b] sputtering, [13] chemical vapor deposition, and so on. [14] Among these methods, spray pyrolysis has been proved to be simple, reproducible, lowcost, and suitable for large scale applications.…”

“…Broad and characteristic peaks were observed in the range of 330-420 nm, and intensity of the characteristic peak was increased by annealing. In addition, the peak shape in the range of 330-380 nm, which is close to bandgap of SnO2 [22][23][24], was slightly changed by annealing. These results indicate that quality of the SnOx:Fy layers were improved by annealing.…”

“…Beberapa diantaranya yaitu metode spray pyrolysis, chemical vapour deposition, sputtering, hidrotermal, dan metode sol-gel (Patil et al, 2009). Metode sol-gel memiliki beberapa keuntungan, di antaranya memiliki tingkat homogenitas yang baik, suhu sistem yang rendah, kemurnian kristal yang tinggi, dan penggunaan energi yang rendah.…”
