Synthesis, Characterization and Catecholase Activity of Cobalt (Ii) Complexes With Phenol Based N2o2 Chelating Ligand

Abstract: Two mononuclear octahedral Co(II) complexes [Co(H2L)(PhCOO)2] and [Co(H2L)(C8H4O4Na)2] using H2L (N,N'dimethyl-N,N'-bi(2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzyl)-ethylenediamine) as a facially coordinating sterically constrained N2O2 ligand have been synthesized and characterized. [Co(H2L)(PhCOO)2] shows catecholase activity in methanol at room temperature.
