Synthesis, Characterization and Anti-epileptic Activity of Thiohydantoin Derivatives

Abstract: A vast number of biological properties have been recognised to Thiohydantoin derivatives, have attracted continuing interest because of their various biological activities, namely anticonvulsant, hypolipidemic activity, anti-thyroidal activity, and anti-microbial actions. In this look upon, multiple numbers of Thiohydantoin derivatives are synthesised besides anti-epileptic mechanisms have been investigated. A series of 3-substituted 2-thiohydantoin Derivatives were synthesised from Benzil via Benzil-Benzilic … Show more

“…[ 11‐12 ] Our group have performed extensive studies on the bioactive constituents of Maca collected from Yunnan and a series of thiohydantoins and hydantoins were reported from the tubers of Maca. [ 13‐15 ] Considering the significant value of thiohydantoins in synthetic chemistry and pharmacology, [ 16‐19 ] in the present study, a continuous phytochemical investigation on Maca has been carried out, and four pairs of thiohydantoin dimers, (±)‐lepithiohydantoins A—D ( 1 — 4 ) were isolated from the tubers of Maca through HPLC‐UV‐guided method (Figure 1). Furthermore, their neuroprotective activities were evaluated in the corticosterone (CORT)‐ induced PC12 cells injury model.…”

“…Lately, MOL has acknowledged more massive acceptance worldwide due to its resistance to variable temperature conditions, reasonably dry soils, and active and straightforward flourishment in the area's unpredictable circumstances, state, and topographical space 21 . Prakash et al, 22 used alkali‐treated M. oleifera fruit fibers as reinforcement in LY556 Epoxy composites and discovered that the alkali‐treated fibers have good mechanical, wear, and water absorption properties when compared to untreated fibers. The thermo‐mechanical properties of epoxy filled with M. oleifera fibers nanocomposites were examined by Nadir et al, 23 who discovered that they were superior to neat epoxy in terms of mechanical and thermal properties.…”
