Synthesis and structural characteristic of Nd3+/Er3+ co-doped Lithium Fluorophosphate (LFP) glasses

Abstract: Transparent fluorophosphate glass containing face center cubic LiF crystals doped with Nd3+/Er3+ were succesfully characterized by melt-quenching method. The sample composition following chemical formula (65-x)P2O5-20LiF-14CaF-1Nd2O3-xEr2O3 (x = 0.0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5 and 2.0 mol%). The density parameter was calculated using Archimedes method in distilled water and this value used to calculating of molar volume. Several physical properties of Nd3+/Er3+ co-doped LFP glasses were calculated and correlated with struc… Show more

“…Hence, researchers are contemplating the incorporation of alkaline fluoride compounds as a potential solution to counteract the hygroscopic characteristics of phosphate-based glass products. This conclusion is derived from a thorough examination of multiple scholarly works, which assert that alkali and alkaline fluoride compounds can diminish the hygroscopic characteristics of phosphate glass that is infused with rare earth ions [22]. The research incorporates alkali fluorides, specifically sodium, potassium, and calcium, due to the advantageous effect of fluoride on enhancing luminescence qualities, attributed to its low phonon energy.…”
