Synthesis and spectroscopic studies of new organotin(IV) complexes with dithiocarbamate derivative of L-proline

Abstract: New organotin complexes, [SnMe 2 (dtc-pro)] (1) and [Sn 2 Bu 4 Cl 2 (dtc-pro)] (2), have been synthesized from reaction between SnR 2 Cl 2 (R = Me or Bu) and dithiocarbamate derivative of L-proline (dtc-pro). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1 H NMR and 119 Sn NMR spectroscopies. Spectroscopic data suggest a polymeric structure for 1 and a dimeric structure for 2, in which the ligand has been coordinated through both carboxylate and dithiocarbamate groups between two tin atoms… Show more

“…The shifts are, however, found to be dependent on the nature of the group attached to Sn. Caution is important in this analysis because tin resonance is strongly dependent on factors such as temperature, concentration used and electronegativity of the ligands [ 67 , 70 , 71 ]. With an electron donating group, Sn atom becomes more shielded, thereby leading to an increase in the chemical shift value [ 67 ].…”

“…Recently, they have also found applications as vulcanization accelerators in the rubber industry, owing to their strong ability to form chelates with inorganic species. It is interesting to explore the nature of the dithiocarbamates derived from α-amino acids and its metal complexation [4][5][6][7].…”

“…Therefore, a variety of multidentate ligands have been used for the construction of organotin(IV)‐based coordination polymers . In contrast, dithiocarbamate ligands have very limited applications in the construction of coordination polymers , despite being excellent candidates in crystal engineering and in the preparation of macrocycles , cages , catenanes , and nanoparticles during the past few years.…”

“…Keeping in view limited applications of dithiocarbamate ligands in coordination polymer chemistry , it was thought worthwhile to explore new dithiocarbamate‐based ligand for the construction of coordination polymers. To the best of our knowledge, previously only Sedaghat and Goodarzi and Cruz‐Huerta et al. reported OSnS core coordination polymers by using α‐ and δ‐amino acid dithiocarbamates, respectively, with organotin moieties.…”
