Synthesis and Spectroscopic and Biological Activities of Zn(II) Porphyrin with Oxygen Donors

Abstract: Results of investigation of the physicochemical properties of zinc complexes containing substituted phenols as axial ligand having general formula [X-Zn-t(p-CH3) PP] [where X = different phenolates as axial ligand] in impurity-free organic solvent are presented. The four-coordinated zinc porphyrin accepts one axial ligand in 1 : 1 molar ratio to form five-coordinated complex, which is purified by column chromatography and characterized by physicochemical, biological evaluation and TGA/DTA studies. Absorption s… Show more

“…While phthalocyanines have been most commonly employed as chemical sensors [3] [4], less work has been devoted to use porphyrin and metalporphyrin films in spite that this molecule plays a key role as active organic material for various biological processes [5]. Over the last few years, some experiments have been carried out to investigate the sensitivity of porphyrins in solution [6], thin films formed with the Langmuir-Blodgett technique [7] [8] [9] [10] and spin-coating [11] to detect volatile compounds.…”

“…The ligands are readily available or easily synthesized, highly stable, and insensitive to moisture and air. The ligands and their palladium complexes were synthesized by our recent report or by a little modification to the existing methods and the characterization data was found good agreement to the reported …”

“…From these studies,w eu nderstood that the electron rich environment providedb ys uch functional moieties plays av ital role in electroanalytical performance and they provide high selectivity to DA detection. Thec ombination of RGO with Zn-TPP via non-covalent interaction might significantly increase the electrocatalytic activity.M oreover, the Zn-TPP is ag ood candidate for sensor applications due to the presenceo fZ nm etala nd suitable substituents [44,32].…”
