Synthesis and spectral properties of new 6‐methoxy‐3‐(2′‐thienyl)‐1,2‐benzisoxazole and its isomeric benzoxazole

Abstract

6‐Methoxy‐3‐(2′‐thienyl)‐1,2‐benzisoxazole has been prepared simultaneously with 6‐methoxy‐2‐(2′‐thienyl)‐1,3‐benzoxazole. The spectral data of these new compounds have been discussed. Mass spectroscopy has proved to be a valid tool in the structural characterization of these isomers and 13C nmr spectrometry confirmed their structures.
