Synthesis and Sensing Applications of Fluorescent 3-Cinnamoyl Coumarins

Abstract: We have synthesized two novel fluorescent 3-(4-diethylaminocinnamoyl) coumarins that exhibit fluorescence quenching upon exposure to a nerve agent simulant, diethylchlorophosphate (DCP), providing a basis for rapid and sensitive DCP chemosensing. Furthermore, these coumarin derivatives display two-photon fluorescence upon illumination with near-infrared laser pulses and their two-photon (TP) absorption cross-section was evaluated. The potential for TP bio-imaging of these compounds was investigated by their ce… Show more

“…In our recent work, we focused on the π‐π interaction mediated hierarchical self‐assembly in the PNORCNF system. PNORCNF was successfully synthesized to take advantage of the photoactive double bonds of the cinnamoyl group as the cinnamoyl double bonds possess unique nature that enables them to be used in a wide range of applications 16–19 . On the other hand, owing to excellent functional group tolerance, controlled molecular weight by varying M/I ratio and biocompatibility, norbornene polymers serve as a magnificent candidate in the various purposes 20–22 .…”

“…Coumarin derivatives substituted at the C‐3 position have been studied for their chemo‐sensing properties, and 3‐acetyl coumarins and their azide derivatives have been used as fluorescent brightening agents . To the best of our knowledge, no previous study has been made of this coumarin derivative, therefore its properties encouraged us to select it as a compound for our study.…”
