Synthesis and Organization of Gold-Peptide Nanoparticles for Catalytic Activities

Abstract: A significant development in the synthesis strategies of metal-peptide composites and their applications in biomedical and bio-catalysis has been reported. However, the random aggregation of gold nanoparticles provides the opportunity to find alternative fabrication strategies of gold-peptide composite nanomaterials. In this study, we used a facile strategy to synthesize the gold nanoparticles via a green and simple approach where they show self-alignment on the assembled nanofibers of ultrashort oligopeptides… Show more

“…demonstrated an in‐situ synthesis of metal nanoparticles with peptides using photo‐reduction method that circumvent using any external reducing agent e. g . NaBH 4 [21b–c] . We were curious to exploit our peptide nanostructures towards AuNP design in a bid to understand the fate and properties of the peptide‐AuNP composites.…”

“…Different examples of the application of polymeric nanofibers for the delivery of metallic nanoparticles to tumor tissue, to produce heating and kill cancer cells, have been reported in the literature ( Abid et al, 2019 ). The decoration of gold nanoparticles on the surface of peptide-nanofibers may also control particles aggregation and provide them additional stability ( Maity et al, 2014 ; Abbas et al, 2022 ). The size of the gold nanoparticles in this study (6 nm) allows us to follow them by electron microscopy, but it is necessary to use other types of gold nanoparticles for photothermal treatment or to evaluate the plasmonic properties of gold under these conditions.…”

“…Supramolecular short peptide nanomaterials, used either in-vitro or in vivo , have antibacterial applications guarantying substantial recognition , ease of fabrication, favorable physico-chemical features, biosafety, biocompatibility, biodegrability. These nanomaterials, including peptide composites and biomineralized nanomaterials, also have potential to be antibiotics of the future ( Abbas et al, 2022 ). Peptide nanocarriers reach destination safely and reduce the immune response.…”
