Synthesis and Homomolecular Metalation of Trialkylsilylphosphanides of Calcium and Barium

Abstract: Metalation of triisopropylsilylphosphane with bis(tetrahydrofuran‐O)calcium bis[bis(trimethylsilyl)amide] in tetrahydropyran (thp) in a molar ratio of 3:2 yields (Me3Si)2NCa[μ‐P(H)SiiPr3]3Ca(thp)3 (1) containing a trigonal‐bipyramidal Ca2P3 core, the metal atoms occupying apical positions. Reaction of two equivalents of triisopropylsilylphosphane or ‐arsane with bis(tetrahydrofuran‐O)barium bis[bis(trimethylsilyl)amide] in tetrahydrofuran gives the corresponding bis(phosphanide) 2 and bis(arsanide) 3, compound… Show more

“…Indeed, the activity of Group 2 amides and alkyls with alcohols, pyrroles, terminal alkynes, phosphines and C-H acidic heterocycles has been shown to yield alkoxide, [61][62][63] pyrrolide, 64 acetylide, [65][66][67][68] phosphide [69][70][71][72] and carbanion 73 fragments bound to a Group 2 centre alongside the respective protonated fragment; in the case of metal hexamethyldisilazides (IIa-d) this is an amine, as summarised in Scheme 1.3. …”

“…Regioselective coupling of allylbarium species with epoxides also displays high a selectivity (eqn [23]), 319 and allylbarium reagents cross-couple to allylic alcohol derivatives using bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)phosphate as a leaving group to yield 1,5-dienes with high a,a 0 -selectivity. 320 Under similar conditions, Grignard reagents produce a : g coupled products.…”
