Synthesis and Crystal Structure of the Novel Dinuclear Vanadium(III) Complex K2[V2(dpot)2]·7H2O Containing 1,3-Diamino-2-propanol-N,N,N′,N′-tetraacetate (dpot)

Abstract: Reaction of VCl3 with potassium 1,3-diamino-2-propanol-N,N,N′,N′-tetraacetate gave a dinuclear complex K2[V2(dpot)2]·7H2O. X-Ray crystal structure analysis revealed that each vanadium atom in the complex adopts pentagonal-bipyramidal seven-coordination. The dpot4− ion contains a deprotonated alkoxy group, which bridges the two vanadium atoms, and a pendant carboxylic acid group.

“…Among them, 2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diamine-N,N,N 0 ,N 0 -tetraacetic acid (H 4 dptaOH) is recognized as a potentially heptadentate dinucleating ligand. When early transition metal or lanthanide (Ln) metal ions, whose ionic radii are relatively large, were used, homoleptic complexes were obtained [2][3][4][5]. Previously, we have reported the late Ln(III) dinuclear complexes, Na 4 [Ln 2 (l-dptaO) 2 ] (Ln = Ho III , Yb III ) [5], which contain octacoordinate Ln(III) ions.…”

“…2). 2 There is a crystallographic center of symmetry in the center of four Nd(III) ions. The Nd1 and Nd2 atoms are bridged by one deprotonated alkoxo group and one carboxylato group, in contrast with the fact that two Nd atoms are bridged by two deprotonated alkoxo groups in 1.…”

“…Seven-coordinated vanadium complexes 16,17 are generally not so common and sevencoordinated vanadium() complexes 18-20 in particular are rather scarce, most of them being complexes of edta-like ligands. [21][22][23][24][25] In this paper we report the first seven-coordinated mononuclear pentagonal bipyramidal vanadium() complex of α-N-heterocyclic carboxylic acids with N-O donor sites which was structurally characterised by a single crystal X-ray diffraction study.…”
