Synthesis and Coordination of the Cagelike Siloxane Compounds E2{(SiMe2)2O}3 (E = As, Sb, Bi)

Abstract: Keywords: Silicon / Siloxanes / Cage compounds / PnicogensThe cage compounds [E 2 {(SiMe 2 ) 2 O} 3 ] for E = P, As, Sb, and Bi (1, 4, 5, and 6, respectively) are readily accessible in moderate yields by the reaction of Na 3 E (for E = P, As, Sb, Bi) or [Li(dme)EH 2 ] (for E = P, As; dme = dimethoxyethane) with 1,3-dichloro-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane.These compounds were isolated and characterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The major structural parameters such as the E-Si bond length and the Si-E-S… Show more

“…After conversion of these salts with D 6 in SO 2(l) , the respective coordination compounds [Ag(D 6 )Al F ] ( 11 ) and [Ag(D 6 )FAl(OR F ) 3 ] ( 12 ) were isolated and characterized [53] . Besides the two‐dimensional D n ligands, our group expanded the field to three‐dimensional ligand systems introducing group 15 elements [132–135] . The application of Si−O donors for coordination was unfortunately unsuccessful in the most cases.…”

“…For some time we have been interested in the functionalization of dichlorodisiloxanes with phosphorus or arsenic reagents, such as [Li(dme)EH 2 ] (for E = P, As) 5,710. In the case of the methyl‐substituted 1,3‐dichloro‐1,1,3,3‐tetramethyldisiloxane (ClSiMe 2 ) 2 O, treatment with [Li(dme)EH 2 ] (for E = P, As) leads to the formation of well‐defined cage structures E 2 [(SiMe 2 ) 2 O] 3 (E = P, As) 5,11. In a heterogeneous reaction, the same dichlorodisiloxane reacts with Na 3 E (for E = Sb, Bi) to afford the equivalent cage compounds E 2 [(SiMe 2 ) 2 O] 3 , so the whole set of heavy group 15 elements as bridgehead atoms for siloxane cage compounds was accessible.…”
