New corrosion inhibitor derived from coumarin-3-amine namely 3-((2-chlorobenzylidene)amino)coumarin was synthesized and characterized by CHN elemental analysis in addition to Fourier transform infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. The anticorrosion ability of 3-((2-chlorobenzylidene)amino)coumarin to inhibit the impacts of corrosion has been demonstrated and damage reduction of the mild steel also. 3-((2-chlorobenzylidene)amino)coumarin, has been employed as a good corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in HCL solution. The efficiency of the inhibition was figured according to weight loss method and it was 74.6%.

Umbelliferon, the natural crenelated coumarin distributed in the plants of a piaceae family, has shown various biological activities, especially as a cancer chemo preventive agent. Coumarins have been categorized as a member of family of benzo-pyrone, that consist of pyrone ring united to benzene ring. The benzo-pyrones may be sectioned to alfa type that coumarins belong and the gama type that flavonoids have been major members. Coumarins are chemical entity which has being synthesized in the past few years many forms of its derivatives; the entity provides the principal origin of motivating to numerous chemist to investigate its diverse medical efforts especially with regards to the anticoagulant activity. In present article we review recent 4-Methylumbelliferon, (4-MU) that are synthesized with it pharmacological activities antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial activity, ant hepatitis, hepatoprotective, anticancer, antipyretic and analgesic activity.

Relatively inexpensive, stable plant extract, namely Citrus aurantium leaves, was employed as highly efficient inhibitor of carbon steel corrosion by corrosive acid. The inhibition efficiency was estimated based on the weight loss method. Inhibition impacts of researched inhibitor increase with the concentration of the plant extract increase. The inhibition efficiency depends on three factors: molecular structure, concentration, and molecular weight of the inhibitor. Inhibition efficiency of 81.2% was achieved with 20% (v/v) of the extract in 1 M hydrochloric acid during 3 h at 25°C. The effect of temperature was also investigated and activation parameters were evaluated. Inhibition adsorption characteristics were approximated by Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Chemical adsorption mechanism was proposed for the studied inhibitor from the trend of inhibition performance and temperature degree in addition to activation energy values and heat of adsorption.

Abstract: Some novel coumarins were synthesized starting from 4-hydroxycoumarin and methyl bromoacetate. The structures of the newly obtained compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis, mass, IR and NMR spectra.
