“…Modification with organosiloxane is one of the ideal methods available for improving the hydrophobicity of the surfaces of poly(methyl methacrylate-co-butyl acrylate) coats and Sicontaining polymers show a reduction in surface free energy [33][34][35]. In addition, for a long product life, strong adhesion between siloxane and the target matrix is required.…”

“…[33] Datsyuk et al [31] used TGA to investigate the weight loss of acid treated multiwalled nanotubes as a function of temperature in a nitrogen atmosphere, where the weight loss from 150-350 8C is attributed to loss of COOH groups, [56] and the weight loss from 350-500 8C corresponds to the loss of OH groups. [57] The TGA results in the decomposition of our COOH-MWNT and as received MWNT under nitrogen in these temperature ranges are shown in Table 3. This TGA analysis confirms that the acid-treated multiwalled nanotubes used in this study do not contain a large amount of carboxylic acid groups that are able to react with epoxy-PSepoxy, as COOH-MWNT contains only 2.6 wt.-% COOH groups, verifying the low density of grafting sites on the COOH-MWNT.…”

“…Such a dispersion of fillers was first suggested by Weston and Steele [9]. Since then, a number of inorganic or ceramic and organic additives have been reported [10][11][12][13]. Recently, few works have been reported on the synthesis and characterization of nanocomposite polymer system [14][15][16] where due to small particle size, the electrochemical, magnetic and optical behaviour have been shown to improve drastically [17].…”
