Synthesis and characterization of selenium nanoparticles stabilized with cocamidopropyl betaine

Abstract: In this work, selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) stabilized with cocamidopropyl betaine were synthesized for the first time. It was observed that Se NPs synthesized in excess of selenic acid had a negative charge with ζ-potential of −21.86 mV, and in excess of cocamidopropyl betaine—a positive charge with ξ =  + 22.71 mV. The resulting Se NPs with positive and negative charges had a spherical shape with an average size of about 20–30 nm and 40–50 nm, respectively. According to the data of TEM, HAADF-TEM using EDS… Show more

“…The DQSN created using Diospyros ebenum had a spherical morphology and a smooth surface, according to SEM analysis. The particles did not have any agglomeration and were uniformly scattered, which was in line with the previous reports by Blinov et al in 2022 [24]. The average particle size was determined to be between 100 and 140 nm, which is consistent with the results of the SEM investigation [25].…”

“…The surface of Se NPs is hydrophobic, hence the DDAC molecule will attach to the surface of the nanoparticles with a hydrophobic tail. According to the Fajans-Paneth-Hahn Law, the potential-forming layer will be formed by positively charged particles 77 . The layer of counterions is formed by oxalic acid anions, which were formed as a result of oxidation of ascorbic acid molecules.…”

“…When using prolonged-acting drugs due to the slow but constant release of the drug from the enriched form with a single injection, you can get a constant concentration of the active drug in the tissues for a long time. Currently, polymer-based substances, in particular, viscoelastic, are used to increase the viscosity (prolongation) of medicinal substances [20,27,28]. Modern methods of pharmacocorrection of the permeability of the blood-aqueous barrier are few and difficult to apply in practice.…”
