Synthesis and characterization of polyaniline nanoparticles in phosphonic acid amphiphile aqueous micellar solutions for waterborne corrosion protection coatings

Abstract: Polyaniline (PANI) dispersions consisting of 270 to 380 nm sized particles were prepared by oxidation with ammonium peroxydisulfate (APS) in n‐decylphosphonic acid (DPA) micellar solutions. The green dispersions do not undergo macroscopic precipitation for more than a year. The synthesized DPA doped PANI exhibited enhanced electrical conductivity (3.6 S cm−1) compared with DPA‐PANI (2.3 x 10−4 S cm−1) prepared by postsynthesis treatment of the PANI‐base with DPA. It was shown that through protonation with decy… Show more

“…Release of inorganic dopant occurs in the next consecutive step between 150-400 C. The degradation is complete in the third step of thermogram with the loss of PVP stabilizer and PANI backbone structure. [54][55][56] Fig. 4 shows the UV-Vis spectrum of polymerization recorded in each 50 minutes of reaction progress.…”

“…Lately, long-chain alkyl phosphonic acid-stabilized colloidal polyaniline dispersive system are synthesized and coated on the steel substrate as a primer. In this system alkyl phosphonic acid (ndecylphosphonic acid, DPA) are seen to act both as a surfactant and as a corrosion-inhibitive dopant [96].…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5] As shown in numerous reports, PANI has potential applications as electrode material in energy storage, electromagnetic shielding material in biosensors, anticorrosion coatings and so on. [6][7][8][9] However, it is difficult to meet the requirements in all industries with PANI alone. Up to now, many PANI-based composites such as PANI/Ag, 10,11 PANI/Au 12 and PANI/Zn 13,14 have shown great performance.…”
