“…Reinforcement has also been proved for bioceramics, such as hydroxyapatite, yttria-stabilized zirconia, alumina, etc. [ 4 , 235 ], and more recently, for bio-piezoelectric hybrid composites of barium titanate/polymethyl methacrylate [ 236 ]; in this case, the introduction of low graphene contents (<0.8 wt.%) developed materials with good biological activity and slightly higher compression strength. Reinforcement has been observed also in printed bioactive glass scaffolds containing rGO [ 237 ].…”

“…Zhang et al [ 146 ] fabricated 3YSZ/multilayer graphene oxide composite (3YSZ/GO) utilizing HPS. Results show that GO was slightly increased the relative density and hardness and uniformly dispersed in the 3YSZ matrix.…”

“…Comparison of strength and toughness of ZrO 2 ceramics toughened by different methods. [110][111][112]121,122,126,131,133,134,137,138,146,[150][151][152]163,165] www.advancedsciencenews.com www.aem-journal.com low thermal conductivity and good biocompatibility, making it suitable for applications such as structural materials, coatings and biomedical components, etc. [166,167] The representative usage scenarios for toughened ZrO 2 are shown in Figure 16.…”

“…An important derivative of graphene is graphene oxide (GO), consisting of graphene sheets covered with oxygen-based functional groups ( Raslan et al, 2020 ). Utilized in dental ceramic toughening, Zhang et al (2020) distributed GO uniformly in 3Y-ZrO 2 powders, forming the C-O-Zr bond during the sintering process. As a result, the fracture toughness increased 40.9% (8.95 ± 0.59 MPa m 1/2 ) when adding 0.1 wt% GO, and the flexural strength improved up to 200% (1,489.96 ± 35.71 MPa) when adding 0.15 wt% GO, in comparison to raw 3Y-ZrO 2 ceramics.…”
