Synthesis and characterization of glucosulfonic acid supported on Fe3O4 nanoparticles as a novel and magnetically recoverable nanocatalyst and its application in the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivatives

Abstract: ARTICLE This journal isGlucosulfonic acid immobilized on Fe 3 O 4 magnetic nanoparticles (GSA@MNPs) as an efficient and magnetically reusable nanocatalyst has been reported for the clean and one-pot synthesis of polyhydroquinoline and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivatives, with short reaction times in good to high yields in ethanol. After completing reactions the catalyst was easily separated using an external magnetic field from the reaction mixture and reused for several consecutive runs without signif… Show more

“…In the 1072 and 770 cm −1 spectral region of the FT-IR spectra (Figure b and c), an overlap of the stretching vibration of the Si-O-Si bonds with Al-O and OH···OH stretching vibration leads to band broading [27][28][29]. In the FT-IR spectra of boehmite-SSA (Spectrum c), the existence of the grafted silica sulfuric acid groups is confirmed by SO 3 -H groups vibrations that appear at 938-1220 and 3000-3400 cm −1 [30].…”

“…[43] In the following step, the chlorine group of Fe 3 O 4 @CPTMS was replaced with acetylacetone moiety in reaction with acetylacetone in the presence of sodium hydride to provide the Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 -n-Pr-acac MNPs. [45,46] The appearance of peaks at 1000-1100 and 2887-2973 cm −1 in Figure 1(c-f) are attributed to the ν (Si─ O) and ν (C─ H) vibrational bands, respectively, which are not observed in the spectrum of magnetite. As shown in Figure 1(a), the FT-IR spectrum of acetylacetone exhibits one strong peak at 1622 cm −1 related to the stretching vibration of enolic form of the carbonyl group, and another weak signal at 1727 cm −1 which is assigned to the stretching vibration of carbonyl group in the keto form.…”

“…The heterocyclic ring of 1,4‐Dihydropyridine (1,4‐DHPs) and polyhydroquinolines are among the most widely used wide range of biological and pharmaceutical activities such as anticancer, hepatoprotective, antiatherosclerotic, antitumor, antidiabetic activity, vasodilator and treatment of Alzheimer's disease . A number of solid materials as supports have broadly been investigated for the synthesis of polyhydroquinolines such as Mn@PMO‐IL, Ni(II)‐Vanillin‐MCM‐41, Co 3 O 4 ‐CNTs, HY‐Zeolite, and Glucosulfonic acid immobilized on Fe 3 O 4 (GSA@MNPs) have been used to facilitate these reactions. We have recently reported on the preparation of SBA‐15/SO 3 H nanoreactor as a highly efficient solid acidic catalyst for the synthesis of polyhydroquinolines .…”
