Synthesis and Antiviral Evaluation of Isatin Ribonucleosides

Abstract: A series of novel substituted isatin ribonucleosides 3b-3f were synthesized in good yields by a TMSOTf catalysed coupling reaction between the silylated nitrogenated base (1b-1f) and 1-O-acetyl-2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-beta-D-ribofuranose (2). Isatin nucleoside 3a previously reported was also prepared using this method giving high yield. From the compounds tested, ribonucleoside 3f proved to be the most active one when assayed for antiviral activitiy on HSV-1 infected cells, leading to 66% of inhibition of virus yi… Show more

“…Based on the potential therapeutic properties of nucleoside derivatives as effective medications in a vast range of viral diseases [ 86 ], a series of novel substituted isatin ribonucleosides [ 31 ] (Fig. 36 ) was synthesized by de Oliveira et al [ 87 ]. Next, these compounds were evaluated for antiviral activity on HSV-1-infected cells.…”

“…Heterocyclic compounds with an isatin nucleus have assorted biological merits, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic [1][2][3][4][5], anticancer [6][7][8][9][10][11], antiglycation [12], antimalarial [13][14][15][16][17], antioxidant [18][19][20][21], anthelmintic [22], and antianxiety activities [23]. Moreover, they work as anticonvulsants [24,25], anti-HIV [26][27][28], antiviral [29], antibacterial [30][31][32][33][34], anti-fungal [35], and anti-tubercular agents [36][37][38][39]. Isatin derivatives also have various industrial applications, they are used as corrosion inhibitors [40][41][42], fluorescent sensors [43][44][45][46], and also in the dye industry [47,…”
