Synthesis and Antioxidant Properties of Some New 3-(4-Chlorophenyl)-5- (pyridin-4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole Derivatives

Abstract: A series of new 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(pyridin-4-yl)-4-(arylmethyleneamino)-4H-1,2,4-triazole derivatives 3 were prepared in good yields by treatment of 4-amino-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(pyridine- 4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole (2) with selected aldehydes. Compounds 3 were reduced with NaBH4 to afford the corresponding 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(pyridin-4-yl)-4-(arylmethylamino)-4H-1,2,4-triazole derivatives 4. Eighteen new compounds were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data… Show more

“…In addition, some 1,2,4-triazoles, 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, and 1,3,4-thiadiazoles have also been reported as the compounds possessing antiurease activity (Amtul et al ., 2004; Aktay et al ., 2009; Bekircan et al ., 2008). Recently, some complexes of Schiff bases with metal ions showed significant inhibitory activities against urease (Shi et al, 2007; You et al, 2010) along with other metal complexes (Cheng et al, 2009).…”

“…Aminotriazoles are structurally important precursors for obtaining various Schiff bases that have well‐known antimicrobial properties . Various triazole Schiff bases possessing varied significant biological activity have been reported to have antifungal, antibacterial, antitumor, plant growth‐regulating and cytotoxic activities. A wide range of transition metal complexes with biologically active compounds motivate studies for the preparation of new metal‐mediated antibiotics, antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, radiosensitizing agents, and anticancer compounds.…”

“…Their general structure includes a triazole ring fused to pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine, and triazine. Moreover, the structures incorporating triazoles fused to thiadiazine and thiadiazole display a broad spectrum of biological activities, even though few of them are available in the literature 11–16…”
