“…It has been found that the size of the pure nanomaterials of calcium fluoride synthesized by the co-precipitation method is larger than those produced using the hydrothermal method [15]. The Eu, Er and Yb doped CaF 2 nanoparticles have also been synthesized [16,17] and very recently the preparation method and TL characteristics of CaF 2 :Mn nanoparticles has been reported [18]. Considering the extensive applications of the microcrystalline CaF 2 :Dy in TL dosimetry, investigation of TL characteristics of its nanoscale counterpart is of importance.…”

“…Also, CF powder was synthesized by different methods such as sol-gel method [34][35][36], solvothermal process [37,38], reverse micelle method [39,40], different precipitation methods [41][42][43][44], flame synthesis [45] and spray-drying process [46]. Among the methods mentioned above, precipitation method appears to be the most widely used for both FHAp and CF bioceramics.…”

“…Pandurangappa et al [9] reported recently the synthesis of CaF 2 nanoparticles by two different techniques namely co-precipitation and hydrothermal, with the grain diameter of 30-35 nm and 20-28 nm, respectively. The literatures of synthesis of CaF 2 nanoparticles or hollow spheres doped with RE ions, such as Yb 3+ [10], Eu 3+ [6,11,12], Tb 3+ [13,14] and Ce 3+ [15], were successively reported. In addition to these RE ions mentioned above, the erbium (Er) element is one important and particular RE ion with rich energy levels, especially the plenty of upconversion emission channels.…”
