“…Several other pentaborates with similar formula of Na 3 MB 5 O 10 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr, and Zn) have been previously reported [9,19,20,27,28] and the overall structural information can be summarized as follows: (i) Na 3 CaB 5 O 10 has a superstructure, with the cell volume being about two times of that of the Sr analog. Their crystal structures have zero-dimensional character consisting of discrete [B 5 O 10 ] 5− anions separated by 6-coordinate Ca 2+ or Sr 2+ as well as 5-, 6-and 7-coordinate Na + cations.…”
