Synergistic effects of Y and Nd on grain refinement of Mg-Y-Nd-Al alloy

Abstract: In this study, the synergistic effects of Y and Nd on the grain refinement of the as-cast Mg-Y-Nd-Al alloy was investigated by varying Y and Nd contents while fixing their total content (Y + Nd) at 7%. When the contents of Y and Nd were 3% and 4%, respectively, the refinement was most effective and the smallest grain size of 49±5 μm was achieved. The grain refinement process was primarily controlled by the heterogeneous nucleation and the growth restriction factor (Q value). Y could only form Al2RE phase with … Show more

“…In the as-cast alloy, because there is a large number of Mg-RE eutectic phases at the grain boundaries, which are large-size brittle intermetallic compounds [ 29 , 30 ], the stress concentration easily occurs along the Mg-RE eutectic phases under the tensile loading, which leads to crack initiation and propagation [ 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 ]. As shown in Figure 12 a, the cracks in the as-cast alloy mainly originated from the Mg-RE eutectic phases at the grain boundary.…”

“…11,12 To date, research has focused on palliative nurses training programs, professional identity, core competence, work experience, and other aspects. [13][14][15] Existing scales are mainly used to investigate nurses' knowledge of palliative care; less attention has been paid to the development of tools assessing nurses' willingness to work in palliative care facilities. According to the theory of planned behavior, all factors that may affect behavior are indirectly related to behavioral intention.…”

“…Electricity is the dominant energy consumed throughout the operation stage of CGATER. The power consumption by PPU is estimated as [ 25 ] W=6σQηDwhere σ is the surface tension of BF slag, Q is the slag flowrate, η is the energy efficiency of PPU (0.5% as suggested by Zhao et al [ 25 ] ), and D is average diameter of slag granules. The power demand for PPU was calculated to be 500 W. The power consumption by HRU can be easily determined according to the fan model at the given flowrate and pressure.…”

“…We did this by Zhao's method. [ 25 ] RMax=1ωσysρnormalawhere R Max is the largest atomizer radius, σ y is the yield strength of the atomizer material, s is the safety factor, and ρ a is density of the atomizer material.…”
