Synergistic Effect of Diallyl Sulfide With Zinc Oxide Nanorods: A Novel and Effective Approach for Treatment of Acute Dermatitis in Model Animals

Abstract: Besides inciting persistent and recurrent nosocomial afflictions, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), a biofilm forming pathogen, poses an increased risk of several skin as well as respiratory tract infections as well. Emerging antimicrobial resistance trend asks to search for an alternate non-antibiotic based option to combat S. aureus pathogen. In the present study, we evaluated synergistic antimicrobial potential of Zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO-NRs) and diallyl sulphide (DAS) emulsion against methicillin resista… Show more

“…The biofilm assay was performed according to the X.T.T. protocol, which has been recently reported by our laboratory [20,35]. Briefly, the fresh biofilms formation in the plate (96 wells) was eroded with the PBS to take out the non-attached bacterial cells.…”

“…2 . A broad band at 3200–3435 cm −1 can be attributed to stretching H-bound water, and 1410–1622 cm −1 can be ascribed to the bending vibrations of the hydroxide (–OH) groups absorbed at the surface of samples 48 . The weak bands observed at 2364, 1095 and 1041 cm −1 were related to the vibrations of the organic residuals.…”
