Synchronous Bilateral Oncocytoma of the Parotid Glands

“…To our knowledge, only 12 cases of histologically verified bilateral oncocytoma have been described [2,13] since the first report by Stohr and Risek in 1926 [14]. In one of the most recent reviews, that of Capone et al [8] concerning 21 oncocytic parotid neoplasms treated at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine between 1984 and 2000, there were no cases of bilateral occurrence of this tumour.…”

“…Simultaneous Occurrence of tumors in both parotid glands has been reported. These include Warthin's tumor, acinic cell carcinoma, and oncocytoma (9)(10)(11). These parotid tumors are usually encapsulated and are almost limited to the parotid gland, although the lymph nodes of the periparotid region can be involved.…”
