“…In conclusion, through the results of this study and those of the literature including our previous studies (Mattar et al, 2011(Mattar et al, , 2012a(Mattar et al, , 2012bGauthier et al, 2013) and review of international literature, we could hypothesis that the presence of depression in ED have a different meaning depending of it chronology of appearance. It's a sort of chimera whose composition varies from one individual to another and in a same individual at different moments in time.…”

“…Thus, a possible explanation, developed many times in the past, could be that MD comorbidity is at least in part an artefactual phenomenon (Eckert et al, 1982;Channon, DeSilva 1985;Wittchen, 1996;Bogenschutz & Nurnberg, 2000). Depression may be related to the physiological state of malnutrition (Mattar et al, 2011) via, for example, a reduced availability of tryptophan (Gauthier et al, 2013). In this way, ED and MD could at least in part be the result of a diagnostic bias (Bogenschutz & Nurnberg, 2000).…”

“…While our small sample size may have precluded our power to detect a significant effect these results are consistent with a larger body of evidence that suggests psychomotor restlessness is often observed in agitated major depression or anxiety disorders (Angst, Gamma, Benazzi, Ajdacic, & Rössler, 2009; Garriga et al, 2016). Prevalent mood and anxiety symptoms, which are exacerbated by low weight and malnourishment from AN (Gauthier et al, 2014; Pollice, Kaye, Greeno, & Weltzin, 1997), may contribute to the heightened restlessness we observed. Future monitoring of patients with depression and anxiety disorders during these three tasks is necessary to elucidate whether fidgeting is specific to AN or enmeshed in comorbid illness presentations.…”

“…Similarly, the correlation between increased levels of serotonin and decreased occurrence of depression and anxiety has been documented in previous studies. [21,4244] Weissenborn et al [45,46] showed that the changes in midbrain serotoninergic and dopaminergic pathways were related with the increased anxiety and depression of patients with chronic HCV infection, and there was decreased binding capacity of these monoamine transporters in midbrain and striatal regions of patients with chronic HCV infection. The fact that changes occurred at the end of treatment only in those patients who were receiving RBV-containing regimens suggests that RBV may be a source of their elevation, rather than HCV infection.…”
