Switched capacitor‐based continuous input current high step‐up impedance source DC–DC converter

Abstract: The conventional converter needs to be operated at a high duty cycle to achieve maximum possible voltage gain. This leads to severe reverse recovery of switches, increases losses, and reduces efficiency. This study presents a modified switched‐capacitor‐based high gain continuous input current quasi‐Z‐source converter (qZSC) for DC microgrid applications. The proposed converter utilises the embedded switched‐capacitor techniques and can give a high voltage gain with a low duty ratio compared to the conventiona… Show more

“…A new converter with switched inductors is proposed in Banaei and Bonab 16 . Various voltage boost techniques such as cascading, voltage lift, and use of switched capacitors and voltage multipliers have been presented by authors in previous studies 17–20 . Topologies with coupled inductors can produce very high voltage, but the operation of these topologies is complex as compared to nonisolated topologies.…”

[17][18][19][20] Topologies with coupled inductors can produce very high voltage, but the operation of these topologies is complex as compared to nonisolated topologies. Nonetheless, a separate circuit or a snubber circuit needs to be designed in these topologies to address the problem of severe voltage transients 21 across the switch.…”
