“…Four-hundred microliter liquid in each cup was aspirated at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 24 and 48 h for determination. The concentration was determined by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS), according to the Liu et al (2010).…”

“…It has successfully released dexamethasone sodium phosphate (DEXP), siRNA-PKCa, 5-fluorouracil and levofloxacin through the 300-nm-mini apertures in the surface sustainedly (Liu et al, 2010;Chen et al, 2011;Lin et al, 2011;Zheng et al, 2012). In order to avoid vitrectomy accompanied by foldable capsular vitreous body and to reduce the direct disturbance of the intraocular environment of the eye, we develop a periocular capsular DDS, which can be implanted to the posterior Tenon's sac adjacent to the sclera by means of the same craft technique.…”

“…Our previous studies demonstrated that FCVB was combined research for a vitreous substitute and DDS [15,20], then showed it was flexible, effective, and safe over a 3-month implantation time in patients with severe retinal detachments in clinical trials [16]. However, we found that in multiple-center clinical trials the FCVB capsule reattached the retina with a platform for the formation of a flat scar that may influence ultimate visual acuity.…”

“…The ideal intravitreal DDS is a kind of material that not only achieves an intravitreal DDS but also functions as a vitreous tamponade agent [14]. Fortunately, we have previously certified that FCVB could serve as a DDS that could provide the mechanically sustained release of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (DexP) [15], levofloxacin, and protein kinase Cα (PKCα) (data not shown). Moreover, in a clinical trial of FCVB over a three-month implantation period, it was shown to be a flexible, effective, and safe vitreous substitute in the treatment of severe retinal detachment [16].…”

“…Oxygen isotope would be injected into the vitreous cavity or injected into FCVB as a long-term sustained oxygen release system in the eye [21]. This will allow for observation of the metabolism and distribution of the oxygen.…”
