Sustainable Utilization of Steel Slag from Traditional Industry and Agriculture to Catalysis

Abstract: Steel slag is a large amount of residual material produced in the process of steel manufacturing. With the requirements of sustainable development in China, the utilization of steel slag has become a hot issue. Through an in-depth study on steel slag, it is apparent that it has been widely used in various fields in recent years. The resource utilization of steel slag is not only conducive to resource conservation, but also conducive to sustainable production and environmental protection. In this paper, the com… Show more

“…In recent years, the alkali activation of various slags for the production of materials or binders that can be used in construction applications is extensively investigated [8,9]. As a result, the increase of the utilization rate of slags and the development of sustainable management schemes for environmental protection are of great importance for both the industry and the society [10][11][12].…”

“…The growing industrialization in developing countries, on the other hand, generates large amounts of IBPs such as steel slag (SS) by the steel-making industry, coal ash by coal-fired power plants, and mining waste by extracting and processing mineral resources [51,52]. Along with the rapid generation of IBPs, improper treatment and uncontrolled dumping of IBPs are becoming a major environmental issue in many developing countries [53,54].…”
