Sustainable Planning Strategy of Dairy Farming in China Based on Carbon Emission from Direct Energy Consumption

Abstract: The mechanical and electrical development in dairy farming in China increases energy-related carbon emission (CE). To support the sustainable planning strategy of the department, this study calculated the CE and the carbon emission intensity (CI) of the direct energy consumed in dairy farms from 21 provinces in China. Through four dimensions analysis including the national level, farm scale, inter-provincial distribution, and main producing area, this study illustrates the impact of the environment, production… Show more

“…Nevertheless, the escalating issue of environmental pollution resulting from the emissions of cow dung and urine, as well as carbon dioxide emissions from intestinal fermentation, has grown more apparent. This has significantly intensified the challenges faced by China in its efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the agricultural sector [6,7]. The Chinese government formally announced the Sustainability 2023, 15, 15455 2 of 22 objective of attaining the apex of carbon dioxide emission before 2030 and accomplishing carbon neutrality by 2060, referred to as the "double carbon" aim [8,9].…”
