Sustainable Adaptation of New Technology—The Case of Humanoids Used for the Care of Older Adults

Abstract: Ageing population poses new social, technological, and research challenges. It is anticipated that, by 2080, Poland will be in the group of counties that will have one-third of their population aged over 65. Different strategies aim at dealing with the mentioned demographic challenge, including widespread use of humanoids in the care of older people. To understand sustainable entrepreneurship, researchers must explore the pursuit of sustainable development opportunities embedded in ecosystems of entrepreneurship, its interaction with various entities, and its manifestations at the micro, macro and geographical levels [189][190][191][192][193][194][195][196]. New avenues of scientific reflection on sustainable entrepreneurship are revealed with the emergence of concepts, such as sustainable innovation [197] or responsible innovation [198].…”

“…Among other things, technologies supporting the health of the elderly such as mobile applications for smartphones are analysed (Hicks et al, 2009). Halicka and Ejdys analyse another interesting technology that can be useful in supporting elderly people in their daily life, featuring a variety of robots that care for the elderly (Halicka and Ejdys, 2018). Literature also contains research on the use of virtual reality and video games in the process of rehabilitation of elderly people and the improvement of their motor skills (Lamoth et al, 2011).…”
