Abstract:The aim of this article is to complement research on transformations towards sustainability by drawing upon the innovation systems (IS) framework. The IS framework already serves as a suitable and influential basis for research on processes of technological innovation and economic change. We argue that improving the capacity of an IS framework for dealing with wicked problems and the normative complexity of sustainability requires a fundamental paradigm shift because in the current IS paradigm innovations are considered as per se desirable and in mostly technological terms. Therefore, we call for IS dedicated to transformations towards sustainability by opening up for systemic innovations beyond the technological dimension and by acknowledging that stakeholders have conflicting visions, interests, norms, and expectations with regard to sustainability goals. Taking the normative dimension of transformations towards sustainability seriously thus requires more explicit and integrative research on directionality, legitimacy, responsibility, and their interrelation in IS. The article concludes by proposing suggestions for future research based on IS-related approaches that can serve as building blocks for an IS framework capable of incorporating legitimate goal-orientation for transformative innovation by and for society.

Ethical Sustainability in Scene Design of Iranian Children TV Shows

As the most efficient cognition source of children, TV programs can play an important role in fostering the priorities of Ethical Sustainability. Lack of attention in the field of scene design is addressing the absence of ethical sustainability requirements in the scene design principles. But, do the scene design principles in Iran have shortcomings? The aim of this paper is to define these shortcomings on the basis of ethical sustainability and present recommendations which can be considered by Iranian scene designers. The adopted methodology of research is case study, answering the research questions via qualitative data collection and descriptive-analytical technique. To achieve the aim of the research, the importance of ethical sustainability in the scene design of children TV shows is highlighted and the effect of design principles established by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization are reviewed through relevant literature and reliable documents. Then, through a comparison between Sustainable Principles of Hannover and the mentioned Iranian design principles on the basis of sustainable relations, shortcomings of principles are discovered. In addition, the selected case study of the research is the scene of "Fitileh TV show" which was successfully designed in accordance to the mentioned Iranian design principles. The current practice of established design principles are examined through direct observation and visual evaluation and presented in a clear view. The effects of the shortcomings of the afore-mentioned design principles on the designed scene are evaluated afterwards and the recommendations are presented.

ÖZ:Kuramsal temellerini sürdürülebilirlik alan yazınından alan bu çalışmanın amacı, çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamlarının sürdürülebilir kullanımı üzerinde etkisi olabilecek yapıları öğrencilerin bakış açısıyla incelemek ve bu ortamların kullanımında sürdürülebilirliğin sağlanabilmesine yönelik olarak ilgili alan yazına katkı sağlamaktır. Bu amaca yönelik olarak nitel bir araştırma yürütülmüş ve çalışma olgu bilimsel (fenomenolojik) desenle tasarlanmıştır. Araştırma verileri, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde çevrimiçi öğrenme ile yürütülen bir dersi alan 9 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilen görüşme kayıtlarından elde edilmiştir. Nitel bulgulara erişebilmek amacıyla bir görüşme formu hazırlanmış ve öğrencilerle belirlenen zamanlarda görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamlarında bilginin niteliğinin, ortamın etkisinin, ortam değişkenlerinin ve öğrencilerin kendi içsel bazı yapılarının sürdürülebilirlik üzerinde etkisi olan kategoriler olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Bu kategoriler altında bilgi kalitesi, kullanılabilirlik, sistemin kalitesi, hizmetin kalitesi, doyum, tutum, etkileşim tercihi, öğretmen isteği, yönlendirme ihtiyacı ve esneklik şeklinde adlandırılan kodlara ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgu ve sonuçlar doğrultusunda araştırmaya ve uygulamaya yönelik çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.Anahtar sözcükler: çevrimiçi öğrenme, sürdürülebilirlik, sürdürülebilir kullanım ABSTRACT: The aim of this study which takes the theoretical backgrounds from the sustainability literature is to investigate the structures which may have an effect on the sustainable usage of online learning environments with the students' perspectives and to contribute the literature about providing the sustainability of these environments' usage. A qualitative study is conducted for this purpose and the study is designed with phenomenological approach. The research data is acquired from the interview records of nine students whom take an online course of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education. In order to access to the qualitative findings, a qualitative interview form was prepared and interviews were conducted with students in the specified time. Research findings revealed that the quality of information, impact of environment, environment variables and students' own internal structures are the categories which have an effect on the sustainability of online learning environments. Under these categories, codes such as information quality, usability, system quality, service quality, satisfaction, attitudes, interaction preferences, teacher requests, routing requirements and flexibility are reached. In line with the findings and conclusions of the research, suggestions were made for the study and practice.
