“…According to Fisher (2000), the Faces Scale “cues emotional recall” (p. 187), and, unlike the more cognitive measures of job satisfaction, it does not require respondents to make “specific objective comparisons” (p. 187) that activate the cognitive component of job satisfaction. Recently Bowling, Boss, Hammond, and Dorsey (2009) induced positive and negative mood by instructing their participants to remember positive or negative events prior to responding to the Faces Scale or a more cognitive verbal Likert scale that measured job satisfaction.
