Survey of Current Multipath Routing Protocols for Mobile AD Hoc Networks

Abstract: A Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is a wireless communication network with minimum physical infrastructure with diverse communication applications. Mobility and Multihopping are the main characteristics of MANET. Multipath routing protocols establish multiple routes between nodes. The construction of multiple routes should be done with minimum overhead and bandwidth consumption. The purpose of this article is to analyze the characteristics and functionality of various multipath routing protocols and to do the pe… Show more

“…Until now, some failure detection, notification and recovery by re-routing have been proposed [4,9]. In addition, for avoidance of high communication and time overhead for search of a detour wireless multihop transmission route, various multiple route detection protocol have also been proposed where multiple wireless multihop transmission routes are detected in a routing protocol and the routes are switched each time a failed intermediate wireless node is detected along an available wireless multihop transmission route [1,5,8]. These papers only discuss the methods to switch wireless multihop transmission routes after detection of failure of one of the intermediate wireless nodes.…”

“…Several multipath routing protocols have been developed Periyasamy and Karthikeyan, 2013;Zuo et al, 2013). Let us note that there are two types of path disjunction: for the links and for the nodes.…”

“…The purpose of this disjunction principle is to ensure the independence of paths; that is, if a link of one of the paths fails, this failure will not affect the other paths. The computation of disjoint paths has been the objective of numerous studies [11][12][13].…”
