Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering of Dopamine on Self-Assembled Gold Nanoparticles

Abstract: Dopamine, a potent neurotransmitter in the brain, influences a variety of motivated behaviors and plays a major role in Parkinson's disease. In this study, the Raman signal of dopamine was detected on a fabricated nanoparticle-immobilized glass surface by surface-enhanced raman spectroscopy (SERS). Amine-modified glass was prepared by the self-assembly of amine-terminated silane on substrate, followed by the deposition of gold nanoparticles. The gold nanoparticles deposited on the glass surface were functional… Show more

“…They obtained reproducible wavelength-scanned SERS measurements in a wide spectral range using the same substrate. Raman signal of DA was detected based on antigen-antibody interactions with LOD of 1 ng/mL [307]. The developed sensor by Lim et al using a CS-Au nanoshell as a SERS substrate was very simple [308].…”

“…The use of AuNPs material for the development of SERS substrate provides a better performing, more sensitive and cost-effective substrates for SERS applications especially in sensor application. Jeung-Hee An et al have fabricated a substrate based on AuNPs-immobilized glass surface for the detection of DA using SERS [21]. The preparation of this substrate involves the modification of the glass by self-assembly of amine-terminated silane, followed by the deposition of AuNPs before undergo functionalization by anti-DA or DA.…”

“…Here, the same SILAR process was used on glass slides instead of ITO substrates with additional SILAR cycles, in order to increase the amount of adhered metal NPs and thus enhance the SERS signal. Figure 5 shows the SERS spectra of [24,25]. The relatively small peak at around 1450 cm −1 was assigned to the ring stretch vibration contributed mainly from the stretching of the carbon-carbon bond to which the oxygen is attached.…”
