“…The main contributors to the DOS at the Fermi energy are the d states of Pt ions in the As-Pt-As layer of SrPt 2 As 2 [37,38,26]. Similar trends have been reported for BaPd 2 Sb 2 [39] and BaPt 2 Sb 2 [29]. Therefore, this may be a general trend for the CaBe 2 Ge 2 -type materials [40].…”

“…The systematic absence of reflections suggests that the candidate space groups are Cm, C2 or C2/m. Assuming that the sample has the BaPt 2 Sb 2 -type structure [29], of which the space group is C2/m, then the calculated pattern reproduces the observed XRD pattern with R factors [30] of R exp = 5.8%, R p = 12.5% and R wp = 16.3%. This indicates that the HT phase of Figure 1(b) shows the XRD pattern for the low-temperature (LT) phase measured at T = 93 K, in addition to the calculated pattern.…”

“…The Ba-derivative of the aforementioned compound, BaPt 2 Sb 2 had not been reported, and was prepared first in the FIRST Project by the arc melting method for a Ba, Pt and Sb mixtures [42]. The x-ray pattern of the BaPt 2 Sb 2 sample was consistent with a monoclinic lattice having parameters of a = 6.702 Å, b = 6.752 Å, c = 10.47 Å and β = 91.23°.…”
