Suivi des pêches de géniteurs d'omble chevalier (Salvelinus alpinus L.) sur la partie française du lac Léman de 1982 à 1987. Premières données sur le pacage lacustre de l'omble

Abstract: SURVEY OF THE CATCHES OF ARTIC CHARR (SALVELINUS ALPINUS L.) SPAWNERS ON THE FRENCH SHORE OF LAKE LEMAN FROM 1982 TO 1987. FIRST DATA ON THE EFFICIENCY OF LAKE-RANCHING WITH CHARR. SUMMARYThe paper présents the main characteristics of the catches of artic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) spawners on the deep spawning grounds of the French shore of Lake Léman from 1982 to 1987. A part of the smallest (3-5 cm) prefed fry stocked in Lake Léman during the summer 1983 has been marked. The survey of catches of spawners fr… Show more

“…This trend promotes undesirable (large filamentous) species, which raises problems for fish exploitation (due to the deposition of huge filaments mats on the nets). In addition to factors like global warming and meteorological conditions, this trend could also be reinforced by the important change observed at the top of the food web, which follows a succession quite coherent with both the effort made toward a better annual recruitment of the exploited fish and with the expected decrease of the trophic status of the lake (Champigneulle et al 1993; Gerdeaux 1998). This evolution is characterized by a rapid increase of whitefish and a strong regression of roach, which very densely colonized the entire lake in the 1970s.…”

“…As a result, annual means of total phosphorus concentration measured in the lake increased from 10 μg/L in 1960 to approximately 90 μg/L in 1979, and Lake Geneva, considered to be oligotrophic until approximatley 1960, became eutrophic in the early 1970s (Anneville & Pelletier 1999). The most striking consequences reported were the decrease in mean annual water transparency, a more frequent occurrence of summer (July–August) phytoplankton blooms (Anneville et al 2001) and a drastic decrease in the recruitment of exploited fish, especially whitefish ( Coregonus lavaretus ) and artic char ( Salvelinus alpinus ) (Champigneulle et al 1993; Gerdeaux 1998). Measures were taken to reduce P inputs into the lake in order to avoid further deterioration in water quality and biogenic capacity.…”

“…In deep lakes, surveying of the intensity and duration of spawning activity can be carried out by capture of ripe spawners in the spawning areas (Frost, 1965 ;Champigneulle et al, 1988) or by observation of the spawning grounds by divers (Rubin & BUttiker, 1993) but the eggs of many fish species are laid on large surface areas ; egg density is consequently low (Souchon, 1984) and the sampling of the eggs is difficult and uncertain . It is also possible to attract the spawners to artificial substrates (Jones, 1982) .…”

“…74 % de l'ensemble des poissons marqués en Suisse en 1984, puis recapturés ultérieurement, ont été péchés dans les eaux suisses. En admettant que le comportement des ombles immergés en France soit identique(CHAMPIGNEULLE et al, 1988), 26 % de ceux-ci ont donc migré…”
