“…Therefore, both fructose and glucose sensing depend on and interact with the same downstream ABA-and ethylene-signaling pathways. In seedlings, this sugar/ABA-signaling pathway represses photosynthesis genes such as CAB2 and PC (6,32,33). Importantly, CAB2 and PC are differentially regulated by glucose and fructose in the hxk1/gin2 and in the Ler expressing Cvi ANAC089, providing molecular evidence for separate glucose-and fructose-sensing systems.…”

“…Renilla LUC activity did not vary significantly with co-introduction of the control vector. These results suggest that AtWRKY20 enhances expression of the ApL3 promoter, although SPF1 is known as a repressor in sweet potato (Rook et al, 2006).…”

“…A WRKY transcription factor in barley, SUSIBA2, has been shown to bind to W-box and sucrose-responsive elements (SUREs) (Grierson et al, 1994) in the promoter of the isoamylase1 gene as an activator (Sun et al, 2003). A WRKY transcription factor in sweet potato, SPF1, is able to bind to the sugarresponsive sporamin and β-amylase promoters (Ishiguro and Nakamura, 1994), and this suggests that SPF1 acts as a repressor (Rook et al, 2006). In A. thaliana, Masaki et al (2005) reported an activator of Spo min -LUC2 (ASML2; locus number At3g12890), which is a protein belonging to CCT (Constans, Constans-like, TOC1) domain proteins, functions as a transcriptional activator of ApL3, and expression of ASML2 gene is enhanced by sugars in A. thaliana.…”

“…Many of these mutants also displayed ABA response mutant phenotypes, and some were allelic to ABA INSENSITIVE 4 (ABI4) and ABA DEFICIENT 2 (ABA2). 76 Thus forward-genetic screens have implicated a direct link from carbon availability to ABA signaling.…”
