Successful Pregnancy After Combined Renal-Pancreas Transplantation: A Case Report and Literature Review

Abstract: A long-standing history of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus can result in multiple organ damage. In the lack of evidence, the Study Group suggests a tailored approach be adopted, taking age, kidney function, risk of infection, renal disease and coagulation derangements into account [ 128 , 199 203 ].…”

“…Since 1986 when the first successful pregnancy following pancreatic transplantation was described 1 there have been approximately 20 cases 2–9 reported in the world literature. Transplantation of the pancreas is an accepted treatment for insulin‐dependant diabetes mellitus and is commonly combined with renal transplantation for chronic renal failure secondary to diabetic nephropathy.…”
