Subwavelength Array of Planar Triangle Monopoles With Cross Slots Based on Far-Field Time Reversal

Abstract: Abstract-A subwavelength array of planar triangle monopole antennas is proposed and discussed in this paper. Each element of the array is etched with many cross slots which bring no effects to the element's performances of voltage standing wave ratio and farfield radiation patterns. An important property of this antenna is that if multiple such planar antennas are placed face to face, the proposed array can perform time-reversal far-field focusing with a super-resolution as small as one twentieth of a waveleng… Show more

“…To further enhance the conversion efficiency from evanescent modes to propagation modes, perturbations using same cross slots on the ground with periodicities of 3.3mm and 3mm, respectively, along horizontal and vertical directions are introduced. Details about the basic antenna can be referred to [8]. As compared to the brush-like scatterers mentioned above, this co nfiguration gives some regularity and thus being easy to implementation in practice.…”

“…The other is to analyze the polarization-varying stability of a time-varying EM system. Time-reversal (TR) EM technology [2] has shown some absorbing novelties, such as far-field TR focusing beyond the diffraction limit [3,4], TR subwavelength imaging [5], high TR focus gain in dense multipath environments [6,7], TR-MUSIC algorithm for small scatterer localization [8], TR ultra wideband communications [4,6,[9][10][11], and TR method for arbitrarily structured beam-steering arrays [12]. Mechanical motions of EM transceivers can be resolved into rotation and translation.…”

“…Some studies are focused on the impedance computation by various modeling methods. The computed mutual impedance can be used to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) or synthesize the optimal radiation pattern of the conformal array [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. Also, it is useful for an interaction between the dipole particles, for example, analyzing the array impedance [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22].…”
