Substantiation of technological solutions for the protection of water resources in the development of coal deposits

Abstract: In the case of mechanical treatment of mine water in settling tanks according to the existing technology the concentration of suspended solids during the discharge of clarified effluents into water bodies does not correspond to the maximum permissible content of mechanical impurities set for surface water bodies. The technology of mine water cleaning has been improved due to the introduction of a horizontal settling tank of modernized construction and installation of purification of fast open granular filters … Show more

“…There have been practically no research on hydrogeological peculiarities, namely water inflows into the quarry mined-out space for deposits of igneous and metamorphic origin. This is primarily due to the fact that these quarries are not very deep, currently ranging from 20 to 150 m, and on average no more than 75 m. In works [58]- [60], which studied in detail the issue of groundwater inflow in non-metallic deposits of Ukraine, it is noted that the maximum permissible water inflow during mining the granite quarries is determined by a combination of various factors and, first of all, by the production capacity of the quarry, and should not exceed the value accepted for a large quarry of 2250 m 3 /hour at the production capacity of the enterprise 2500 thousand m 3 /year.…”

“…Analyzing the situation in Ukraine in this view with further evaluat ion of t h e health quality for the population living in the region, we can establish correlation between human health condition and the quality of the environment. According to medical research, approximately 80% of all diseases of the planet's population are associated with unsatisfactory quality of drinking water and violations of sanitary and hygienic norms of water supply [29][30][31][32][33][34][35].…”

“…Water quality is deteriorating due to natural and anthropogenic factors (Chugai and Safranov, 2020). Mine waters of coal enterprises are a large-scale source of pollution of water bodies in the regions (Boyacioglu, 2014;Pavlychenko et al, 2022). They are characterized by increased mineralization, general hardness, the content of suspended substances, sulfates, chlorides, phosphates, fluorides, iron, manganese, copper, petroleum products, and other substances are quite significant due to the intensive discharge of polluted water into water bodies without appropriate treatment (Gavrishin, 2018).…”
