“…On the one hand, substance P could induce inflammatory response via evoking activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway ( 37 ). On the other hand, substance P promotes proliferation and mobilizes stem cells to the site of injury, leading to facilitation of mucosal healing in colitis ( 38 ). Hong et al ( 39 ) also reported that dextran sulfate sodium-induced intestinal damage was effectively ameliorated by substance P via enrichment of M2 macrophages and regulatory T cells.…”

“…The processing parameters of PCL fibers have been optimized to fabricate macroporous and microfibrous grafts to facilitate cellularization and remodeling, which has been documented by us before. 28 Our group has also previously optimized the electrospinning conditions to fabricate collagen fibers (data not shown), which were used to encapsulate SP and SDF-1α–derived peptides in this study. We envision that collagen nanofibers will degrade in vivo resulting in the release of SP and SDF-1α peptides, which can enhance endogenous stem and progenitor cell mobilization and recruitment.…”

“… 24 26 Moreover, SP has been shown to enhance the neovascularization, modulate the host’s inflammatory response, and stimulate the production of a variety of cytokines and growth factors. 27 , 28 We and others have previously documented that SP promotes tissue repair in various injury models. 20 , 25 , 26 In view of the multifunctional nature of both angiogenic and chemotactic activities, the use of SP seems of great potential for TE.…”

“…Exogenous SP accelerated wound closure in fullthickness excisional wound healing model of non-diabetic and diabetic mice and the wound healing was delayed NK1R knockout mice (33,34). Proliferation and cell viability of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells were enhanced by SP (35). SP also promoted RPE migration to prevent retinal degeneration in ARPE-19 cell and laser-induced retinal degeneration model (35).…”

“…Proliferation and cell viability of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells were enhanced by SP (35). SP also promoted RPE migration to prevent retinal degeneration in ARPE-19 cell and laser-induced retinal degeneration model (35). The generation of ROS and mitochondrial dysfunction under the diabetic environment were weakened by SP and it caused the epithelial wound healing (36).…”
