<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p> (-)<jats:sub>D</jats:sub>-and (+)<jats:sub>D</jats:sub>-4-methoxyphenylmethyl-thiophosphinic acid, quinine salts of (-)<jats:sub>D</jats:sub>-and (+)<jats:sub>D</jats:sub>-4-methoxyphenylmethylthiophosphinic acid, checking of resolution by <jats:sup>31</jats:sup>P{ <jats:sup>1</jats:sup>H} NMR-spectroscopy </jats:p><jats:p>(-)<jats:sub>D-</jats:sub>and(+)<jats:sub>D</jats:sub>-4-CH<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>OC<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>H<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>(CH<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)P(S)OH acid were obtained from fractional crystallization of the quinine salt of the racemic acid. <jats:sup>31</jats:sup>P{<jats:sup>1</jats:sup>H} NMR spectroscopy proved to be very useful in checking the separation process as well as the optical purity of the diastereomers and enan­tiomers.</jats:p>
