Styrene‐butadiene‐styrene copolymer compatibilized interfacial modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes with mechanical and piezoresistive properties

Abstract: In this study, styrene‐butadiene‐styrene tri‐block copolymer/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (SBS/MWNTs) were prepared by means of a solution blending method. To enhance the compatibility between SBS and MWNTs, the SBS grafted MWNTs (SBS‐g‐MWNTs) were used to replace MWNTs. The MWNTs were chemically hydroxylated by the dissolved KOH solution with ethanol as solvent and then reacted with 3‐Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) to functionalize them with amino groups (MWNT‐NH2). The SBS‐g‐MWNTs were finally obtained b… Show more

“…Various approaches have been adopted to incorporate CNTs within BCPs to modify the BCP properties [17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25], but only a few studies have been able to successfully demonstrate selective CNT localization in one of the BCP phases [26,27,28,29,30]. A more detailed overview of these attempts is given in our previous publication [31].…”

“…Compared with BT‐NH 2 , BT@PE shows the similar N:Ba ratio, and the increased C:Ba ratio and C:N ratio. The results reveal the structure of PE grafted to the surface of BT‐NH 2 33 . Because of the reaction of the amino groups of BT‐NH 2 with the MAH groups of PE‐g‐MAH, the atomic ratio of N and Ba keeps constant while the increased C content due to the grafted PE gives rise to the increase ratios of C:Ba and C:N. Figure 3C,D shows the N1s fitting spectra of BT‐NH 2 and BT@PE.…”
