Study on the Stability and Compatibility of the Cosmetic Products with Lavandula angustifolia Oil Kept in PPH Polypropylene Homopolymer Plastic Containers

Abstract: The products used in cosmetic formulations are continuously diversifying as a result of researches in the field, which combine the healing and prevention of many skin conditions with the use of natural products such as vegetable extracts and essential oils. Testing the stability and compatibility of new or modified cosmetics is required to ensure that quality standards are met when stored in proper conditions for functionality and aesthetics, to preserve their chemical, microbiological and physical properties.… Show more

“…Natural polymers are biodegradable and biocompatible and can be used as carriers of pharmaceutical active compounds, with good results for the enhancement of their stability characteristics [1]. Alginate, the salt of alginic acid, is alow-cost and biodegradable polymer which consists of α-L-guluronic acid and β-D-mannuronic acid, their relative proportion ratio being related to the biofunctionalproperties of alginic acid [2].…”

“…Medicines that are very efficient and present low toxicity are required by physicians [19] A promising alternative to chemicals used for the treatment of mycosis is represented by essential oils (EOs) [20]. EOs obtaines from a large variety of plants and herbs present powerfull antimycotic properties [21,22]. The microbial development as well as the biofilm development may be reduced through specific mechanisms using EOs and other phytochemicals [23][24][25][26][27].…”

“…Linalyl acetate With a high concentration of linalool / linalyl acetate and camphor in low amounts, Lavandula angustifolia essential oil is considered to have the most beautiful perfume/fragrance and is the most demanded oil, used in the aromatherapy and cosmetics industry [1,4,5]. The number of components in the essential oil varies greatly, depending on the species, variety, altitude, weather conditions of the year, pedoclimatic conditions of the cultivation area, as well as separation technology (steam distillation, organic solvent extraction, supercritical fluid extraction with carbon dioxide, maceration, percolation, fractional distillation, etc.)…”

“…The influence that the material (plastic, glass, metal) from which the storage container (of lavender oil or any natural extracts) is made has on the chemical composition of the content, has been demonstrated by numerous recent studies [4]. The industrial field dealing with this aspect abounds with increasingly optimized attempts to obtain as few active / reactive materials in relation to the content [24][25][26][27].…”
